Meet Neil king
“I chose my field because I wanted to help patients recover from musculoskeletal problems and pain and to function optimally. My PT training and Rolfing training combined allow me to help others in a way very few therapists can. My main goal is to give my patients good-quality outcomes and maximize their potential. Accurately analyzing their musculoskeletal issues and problems allows me to get these results quickly.”

Neil King’s journey to becoming one of Metro Detroit’s leading physical therapists is anything but conventional. Before founding Neil King Physical Therapy in 1998, Neil was deeply immersed in the world of cycling—both as a competitive cyclist and as the owner of a bike shop. It was during this time that he discovered Rolfing, a specialized form of hands-on therapy that helps improve movement and alleviate pain. He began offering Rolfing sessions to athletes in a small space above his bike shop, quickly realizing his passion for helping people heal and move better. This passion led him to pursue a career in physical therapy, earning his degree from Oakland University and becoming an Advanced Certified Rolfer.
What started as a single clinic in Rochester Hills has since grown into a thriving practice with 10 locations across Metro Detroit—and plans to open 5 to 10 more in the coming years. Neil’s vision has always been to provide expert, hands-on care that goes beyond symptom management to truly restore function and quality of life. His experience as both an athlete and a therapist gives him a unique perspective, shaping the patient-centered approach that defines Neil King Physical Therapy today.

success stories

Fast-forward to 2025. This time it was my shoulder, which had been injured several years ago and had started to deteriorate to the point my home exercises were no longer effective. I went back to Neal King Rochester Hills for help. Molly gave me a thorough examination and prescribed a set of exercises, which were added to over the course of the therapy. It turns out shoulders are very complex and there are several muscles involved which each require a different exercise. I worked with Molly, Claire, Jake, and Lorenzo; each had a slightly different background and were able to provide additional insights. Over a course of 2 1/2 months of progressively more difficult exercises I was able to strengthen each of the shoulder muscles to a point where I no longer have pain doing normal activities and am working back toward resuming my regular exercise routine, and it's not likely I will need any surgery.
